Posted Sep 7, 2011 in Club News

After a summer of hard tournaments riddled with injuries and vacation, Forest BU17 Red were finally able to come together and play as a team in NFFC Labor Day tournament, prior to the season. Having fought through the 4 games of pool play with injuries and even down players, they battled to squeeze out 2 wins, 1 loss, and a tie having the deciding point be the single goal against the tournament champions. Coming in as second seed to a team they know well, having played them twice before, the battle began early with Forest scoring in the first 5 minutes of the first half and then letting La Mesa back in with a quick score following. A back and forth battle of goals ensued to a tie of 3 a piece, leading into extra time.

With a small breakdown in the back, La Mesa scored their only extra time goal leaving the Forest BU17 to play catch up, and although they numerous chances to equalize the game they were unsuccessful, ending 4-3 in final against a team they will surely gun for during the regular season. Nevertheless, being the first tournament with a full squad and even not, they played with improvement, drive, and passion, hitting the ground running for the regular season.
