Regional Cup Update:BU 18 lose 2-1 In Quarter Finals

BU 18 LOSE IN QUARTER FINALS – 6-22-12
Nott’s Forest F.C BU 18 National Cup Champions lost their Quarter final game this morning 2-1 to
Honolulu Bulls, Hawaii. More information to follow….

BU 18 WIN GROUP AND ADVANCE TO QUARTER FINALS!
Nott’s Forest Boys U18′s won their last group play game against the Utah State Champions 4-1 Wednesday
night. Nott’s won all 3 of their games in group play and advanced to the quarterfinals to be played Friday
morning.
Tuesday nights game was scoreless at the half. Nott’s opened the scoring in the 55 th minute off of a cross
from Connor Keefe that was received at the 6 yard box and layed off by Matt Ripley to Chris Churness who
calmly passed the ball into the side net. Five minutes later the 2 nd goal came of of a half field run through
a couple of defenders that put Chris Sennes one on one with the keeper and he drove the ball off the left
post into the net.
The third Notts’ goal came in the 67 th minute starting on the  right corner of the box as Spencer Williams
pulled 2 defenders and back heeled a pass to Matt Ripley towards the end line, who played the ball back to
the penalty spot as the first attacker dummied the ball and Connor Keefe buried the ball in the top of the net.
With ten minutes left, Nott’s scored their fourth and final goal. It fell to Connor Keefe who hit a half volley
40 yards out into the upper right hand corner of the net. Utah scored late in the waning minutes of the game.
BU 18 WIN AGAIN…
Nott’s Forest Football Club Boys U18′s won their 2nd game in group play with a 2-1 win on Tuesday night
at the Far West Regionals in Phoenix AZ.
They fell behind midway through the 1st half when they gave up a penalty kick that put Colorado Storm
Copa up 1-0. Nott’s created numerous chances to score in the 1st half but where unable to put one in the net.
The 2nd half was physical and hard fought, with 6 yellow cards handed out. The Notts Boys where
undeterred and leveled the game in the 59th minute. The scoring play started with a wall pass on the left
flank that released TJ Perez behind the defense, as he got to the end line he pulled the ball back and found
Tim Hupert at the corner of the box who touched the ball by a defender and slipped the ball into an on
running Spencer Williams who turned his defender and slotted the ball into the back of the net.
As the game opened up the boys found the game winner when TJ Perez was played in behind the right back
from a through ball off Spencer Williams foot. Tj attacked the near post and pulled the ball across the goal
to the on running Chris Luu who headed the ball into the wide open net in the 82nd minute.
The boys played with heart and a great belief that they would prevail in the end. With that win they are
assured 1st place in their group that puts them into the quarterfinals Friday morning despite having one
more game in group play Wednesday evening.
BU 18 Win first game in group play!
Nott’s Forest Boys U18 won their 1st game at the far west regionals 2-0 against Tuscon Soccer
Academy Monday evening. The game was played in 100 + degree weather in Phoenix AZ.
The Nott’s Forest team struggled for the first 15 minutes while overcoming nerves and some sloppy play.
They started to play with more focus and possession beyond that point. Their efforts payed off when
they scored off of a cross from Travis Nicklaw that was headed on frame by Chris Luu and saved by
the TSA keeper only to be followed up by a header from Connor Keefe for the opening goal in the
32nd minute.
The second goal came off a free-kick in the 64th minute from 45 yards out on the left flank by Spencer
Williams. The shutout was recorded by Dean Meltz with 4 saves. Meltz was quoted
regarding his shutout “those four in front of me made my job relatively easy tonight, they locked down
our defensive third”. Those in the back four that contributed to the shutout where Chris Sennes,
Travis Nicklaw, Sean Gallager, Kyler McLaughlin and Martin Cisneros.
The next game is Tuesday evening against the Colorado State Champions.
